Errata for the 1996 Review of Particle Physics

During the time between editions of the Review of Particle Physics and the Particle Physics Booklet, we often find a number of errata. We correct most errata on our WWW pages. If you should find errata that are not known to us, please send mail to pdg@lbl.gov.

Unfortunately, the printer of the booklet did not maintain the standards of previous editions. In some cases, pages may be impossible to read due to improper cutting. Please contact us if your booklet has any of these pages and we will be happy to replace it.

Another of the printing errors is the inaccuracy of the centimeter scale on p. 236. We apologize for the inconvenience of these problems.

We present the following errata (most corrected on the WWW):

• Page 23 of the full Review (pages 17,18 of the Booklet) --- (August 22, 1996):
  • Under Massive Neutrinos and Lepton Mixing, Searches for, there are mistakes in the presentation of the limits for the Dirac and Majorana Mass limits.
    • The Heading and Units for the first 2 limits are missing; it should read

          Stable Neutral Heavy Lepton Mass Limits
              Mass m > 45.0 GeV, CL=95%  (Dirac)
              Mass m > 39.5 GeV, CL=95%  (Majorana)
      

    • The Heading was wrong for the second 2 mass limits and the numbers were not updated; they should read

          Neutral Heavy Lepton Mass Limits
              Mass m > 19.6 GeV, CL=95% 
                            (all |U_(ell j)|**2) (Dirac)
              Mass m > 45.7 GeV or m  10**-13 (Dirac)
      

• Page 37 of the full Review (page 60 of the Booklet) --- (August 12, 1996):
  • The value of c tau of the B+- should read 486 mu m (not 462).

• Page 37 of the full Review (page 62 of the Booklet) --- (September 24, 1997):
  • The B+ is listed as decaying to J/psi(1S) pi-; it should be J/psi(1S) pi+
    (This has NOT been fixed on the 1996 WWW)

• Page 39 of the full Review (page 69 of the Booklet) --- (September 25, 1997):
  • The B+-/B0 ADMIXTURE branching fraction Gamma(D)s+- anything)/Gamma_total was incorrectly averaged due to improper handling of the correlated systematic error, yielding 0.086+-0.016. The correct average is 0.085+0.022. See p. 515 and 517 below.

• Page 72 of the full Review (page 232 of the Booklet) --- (October 11, 1996):
  • Units of density corrected
  • Rad length in H, D changed to value for molecule

• Page 141 of the full Review --- (November 18, 1996):
  • In Fig. 23.4 the x-axis label was corrected.

• Page 132 of the full Review --- (page 162 of the Booklet) --- (December 3, 1997):
  • In Table 1, the line for X₀ Radiation length, the units should read: g cm^-2

• Page 191 of the full Review --- (August 12, 1996):
  • In column 1 of the first section, the value for 'eta' should read 0.46+-0.03

• Page 294 of the full Review --- (May 29, 1997):
  • In Table 1, Row 5, Column 1 (the Reaction) should read
    ⁸B goes to ⁸Be^* e⁺ neutrino
  • Table 1, Row 5, Column 4 (T-C-L) should read 4.43E6

• Page 401 of the full Review --- (August 12, 1996):
  • Reference 39 should have the additional citation: M. Ardebili, PhD. Thesis, Princeton University, 1995.

• Page 489,493 of the full Review --- (September 24, 1997):
  • The B+ is listed as decaying to J/psi(1S) pi-; it should be J/psi(1S) pi+
  • (This has NOT been fixed on the 1996 WWW)

• Page 515,517 of the full Review -- (September 25, 1997):
