Errata for the 2000 Review of Particle Physics

During the time between editions of the Review of Particle Physics and the Particle Physics Booklet, we often find a number of errata. We correct most errata on our WWW pages. If you should find errata that are not known to us, please send mail to pdg@lbl.gov.

We present the following errata along with the corrected PostScript and PDF files:

• Page 74 of the full Review (Page 6 of the Booklet): Astrophysical Constants     PS     PDF
  • (August 15, 2000): The Value given for the Schwarzschild radius of the Earth was off by a factor of 2. The correct value is:
    • 8.870 056 22 mm

• Page 160 of the full Review (Page 184 of the Booklet): High-Energy Collider Parameters     PS     PDF
  • (November 30, 2000): Some collider parameters for the DAPHNE Collider were incorrect.
    • Luminosity
    • Time between collisions (Changed on December 4, 2000)

• Page 166 of the full Review (Page 194 of the Booklet): Passage of particles through matter     PS     PDF
  • (April 17, 2001): In Section 23.4.1 Radiation length: the expression for the e-folding distance is wrong (fifth/sixth lines):
    • It should read:
      and the e-folding distance for pair production by a high-energy photon is 9/7 X₀. (it had read 7/9 rather than the correct 9/7)

• Page 169 of the full Review (Page 197 of the Booklet): Passage of particles through matter     PS     PDF
  • (December 15, 2000): In the paragraph that contains Eq. 23.26, the expression for photon energy is wrong. The sentence should read:
    • In amorphous media, bremsstrahlung is suppressed if the photon energy
      k is less than <E²/E_LPM[38] ... (it had read > rather than <)

• Page 353 of the full Review: nu_mu Listings     PS     PDF
  • (September 6, 2000): The heading for the nu_mu section should say:
    • Pending better understanding it is assumed that nu_mu couples predominantly with nu_2 (rather than nu_1).

• Page 354 of the full Review: nu_tau Listings     PS     PDF
  • (September 6, 2000): The heading for the nu_tau section should say:
    • Pending better understanding it is assumed that nu_tau couples predominantly with nu_3 (rather than nu_1).

• Page 360 of the full Review: Note on Two-flavor Oscillation Parameters and Limits     PS     PDF
  • (September 6, 2000): Two-Flavor Oscillation Parameters and Limits figure:
    • Limits for NOMAD and CHORUS were inadvertently omitted. These figures appear correctly in the Booklet and web versions.

• Page 381 of the full Review: Note on Quark Masses     PS     PDF
  • (November 2, 2000): Quark Mass Parameter Figure
    • The figures for the c mass and the b mass should have units of GeV, not MeV as published.

• Page 385 of the full Review: b-Quark Mass     PS     PDF
  • (November 14, 2000): b-Quark Mass: The value for BRANDENBURG 99 was in error:
    • The correct value is 3.8+0.77-2.0 (not 4.48+1.1-2.7 as published).

• Page 483 of the full Review: f_J(2220)     PS     PDF
  • (March 8, 2001): The value for Gamma(pi pi) x Gamma(gamma gamma)/Gamma_total was in error:
    • The correct value is <2.5 eV (not <3.8 eV as published).

• Pages 41,607,609 of the full Review (Page 73 of the Booklet) for B0     2001 PS     2001 PDF
  (NOT Corrected on 2000 Web version)
  • (August 29, 2001): Because the entry for ALAM 1994 was mistakenly left out of the average for Gamma17, the calculated average was wrong.
    • Corrected in 2001 edition: Page 6, for the Gamma17 Decay Mode: Wrong: (6.8+-3.4)x10^-3  Right: (7.3+-1.5)x10^-3
    • Corrected in 2001 edition: Page 16, similarly for the Branching Ratio: Wrong: 0.0068+-0.0034  Right: 0.0073+-0.0015

• Page 704 of the full Review: N(1535)     PS     PDF
  • (November 27, 2000): ABAEV 96 entry for the N(1535)
    • Added measurements of Gamma(N pi)/Gamma_total and
      (Gamma _i /Gamma _j)^1/2/Gamma_total for N pi to N(1535) to N eta.

• Page 753 of the full Review: Lambda(1670)     PS     PDF
  • (November 27, 2000): ABAEV 96 entry for the Lambda(1670)
    • Corrected measurement of (Gamma _i /Gamma _j )^1/2/Gamma_total for N Kbar to Lambda(1670) to Lambda eta and corrected comment in all entries for this paper.
